BOO! If you are super mega into the spooky season, I have some bad news for you - Halloween in Nicaragua isn't really a thing. In part due to religious objections (from both Catholics and evangelicals), and in part because it's just not a part of Nicaraguan culture, you won't see Halloween decorations on every house or widespread trick-or-treating for kids. (Stay tuned for the Gritería in December, though, for a country-wide Catholic door-to-door tradition!)
There are still ways for families to celebrate Halloween in Nicaragua, though. Here are a few ideas for where to buy a costume in 2022:
Casa de las Bromas - the only store dedicated 100% to costumes in the country, locations in Managua & Estelí
Mundo Party - in Metrocentro, Camino de Oriente, Galerías Santo Domingo & Multicentro las Américas in Managua
Close-Out Nicaragua - second hand costumes imported from the U.S.; multiple locations across the country
Metro Mart - in front of Metrocentro in Managua
JOPA Party - Centro Comercial Managua
Facebook Marketplace - multiple vendors selling costumes, new or secondhand
